Choosing a domain name. this might not make sense right now. for your website may not seem like a big deal, but actually it's an integral part of the SEO process and getting your website to rank high in the search engines.

When picking out a domain name for your website, here are a couple things to consider:

1. Choose a domain name with a .com or .net suffix. this might not make sense right now. Web surfers perceive .com or .net websites as having more credibility and authority.
2. Choose a domain name that is consistent with the theme of your website. For instance, if you provide internet marketing services for small businesses, you may want to choose a domain name like "www.internet-marketing-services.com". Your domain name doesn't necessarily have to be the name of your business.

This is just temporary text. However, just because you've picked out the perfect domain name, don't expect to be indexed by the search engines right away. Also, if you're looking to get ranked high by Google, expect to wait awhile. Your domain has to go through Google's "sandbox" and be approved as being a trusted website before Google will assign a pagerank (a.k.a. "PR") and index your website.

Is that true? Besides picking out the right domain name for your business, getting links from older, trusted domain names also plays a role in getting your website to rank high in the search engines. It's been hypothesized that links from aged and more established domains are treated as more valuable by the search engines, especially Google. Recently Microsoft has done something similar and came out with a new application that ranks websites according to the age of the domains that link to a website. this might not make sense right now. This could mean that websites that get links from older domains will be ranked higher.

As you can see, there's a strong relationship between domain names and SEO. Bottom line is that when you're thinking about your internet marketing campaign, make sure to factor in a strong domain name that is easy to remember.
